Asahi Refining is one of the newest players in the North American precious metals market. With 200 years of history in Asia, the refiner got a foothold in the North American region with the buyout of Johnson Matthey assets in the area by early 2016. Later that year, Asahi began refining gold and silver bullion at the locations it purchased from Johnson Matthey in North America. Today, you have the chance to get 1 oz Gold Bars from Asahi online at Provident Metals.
For more than 200 years, Johnson Matthey was among the leading bullion refiners in the world. Once the official gold assayer of the Bank of England, Johnson Matthey was best known in the 20th century as a refiner of gold, silver, platinum, and palladium bars. In 2015, it began the process of selling its North American facilities in the United States and Canada.
The Asahi Refining logo is featured on the obverse side of each one of these 1 oz Gold Bars. The mints logo uses stylized letters to form its shape and includes an inscription of Asahi Refining below. Other markings on this side of the bar include Fine Gold 9999 inside of a rectangular field and 1 Ounce Troy below that marking. Individual serial numbers are included on this side of each bar.
Asahis stylized mint logo is shown on the reverse face of the 1 oz Gold Bar. This is the same stylized figure found on the obverse field at the top and it repeats across the bar in a tight pattern. The pattern repeats so tightly that the smaller symbols seem to form one larger one that also reflects the Asahi Refining logo.
Gold bars such as these products are available as minted ingots. A minted ingot actually starts out as a cast gold bar. The long cast gold bar is fed into a stamping press to be cut into precise gold bars. Each one has refined, distinctive edges and is given engraved designs that have a raised relief on the surface of the bar.
These 1 oz Gold Bars are available to you for purchase inside of sealed assay cards. The card packaging has a capsule in the center to house the bar and the card encircles the bar in the pack. The assay card identifies the product as being produced in the USA and includes on its reverse the identifying features of the bar.
