History

Following the passage of legislation in 2013, residents of Uruguay have been able to legally purchase and consume cannabis. Today, the country offers three options for consumers. They can purchase cannabis at a pharmacy, grow the plant at home, or obtain it through a cannabis club. Generally, the clubs are the most popular, as they provide customers a larger variety of purchasing options compared to the pharmacy. Currently, cannabis is legally available to Uruguayan residents 18 and older. It is unavailable for tourists.
