With a total of 2,500,033 Coloradans voting on Amendment 64 during the 2012 US General Election, the move to legalize cannabis for recreational use in Colorado passed with the approval of 55.32% of voters. The law allows residents of the state to possess six marijuana plants locked away in a private space. Coloradans can carry one ounce of cannabis on them while traveling and can gift up to an ounce to other residents. This applies only to residents over the age of 21.
