Thomas Jefferson is known as a Founding Father of the United States of America. During the origination of this great land, Jefferson fought to make America all that we know it to be today. Now, Jefferson is proudly featured on the $2 bill. To celebrate this currency, there is a new 1 oz Copper $2 Banknote Round available from Provident Metals.
Highlights:
The $2 bill was originally introduced to reduce the number of $1 and $5 transferred around the country. However, these bills never really captured the attention of the American public. Sadly, less than 1 percent of all paper money printed today are $2 bills, and these coins arent commonly found in circulation. However, some people do collect them.
Obverse
On the obverse of each copper round, you will see the image of the $2 bill from the United States Mint. On the round, you can see President Thomas Jeffersons bust between two statues. Other engravings include United States of America and Two Silver Dollars.
Reverse
The reverse side of each round, you will see decorative filigrees of different types all across the face of the round. Additionally, you will see the name of the producing mint: Art Bar Mint. Other engravings include the rounds weight and purity. This side of the round may remind you of the reverse sides of older versions of the bill.
History
The United States Mint first released a $2 banknote in 1862. The bills were produced until 1966, when the denomination was phased out. However, the bills were brought back in 1976 as a Federal Reserve Note, but with an all-new reverse design. The $2 is still being printed today.
