This Provident Metals product listing offers you a unique chance to own a historic gold bullion piece. Johnson Matthey is still remembered for the quality and purity of its gold bars, even after its 2016 exit from the precious metals industry. The bars it struck over more than a century have value as both gold bullion investment pieces and as historic pieces as no new products are forthcoming from Johnson Matthey. Provident Metals currently offers the 1 Kilo Gold Bar for Mocatta & Goldsmid to you for purchase online.
When you purchase the 1 Kilo Gold Bar available in this Provident Metals listing, the item you receive was refined by Johnson Matthey for the London bullion brokers at Mocatta & Goldsmid Ltd. The bars are offered with plastic bags and will arrive in a discreet shipping box. Each one is a Secondary Market item, a term that indicates Provident Metals did not receive these directly from the original producer.
On the obverse of these 1 Kilo Gold Bars are the identifying hallmarks for the piece and the stamps of both companies. At the top of the bar is the Johnson Matthey stamp that includes inscriptions of 9999, LONDON, and 1 KILO. Along the right side of the bar, you will find the stamp of Mocatta & Goldsmid in a half-moon shape. This includes inscriptions of LONDON BULLION BROKERS within the stamp. The bottom of the bar comes with a unique serial number stamped into the surface.
The reverse field of these particular 1 Kilo Gold Bars is blank. Many cast gold bars are left blank on the reverse. Although there are no purposeful design strikes, you may still notice natural features such as textured surfaces, lines, or other striations that formed as the gold was settling and cooling during production.
Mocatta & Goldsmid Ltd. was formed in the 17th century, with Abraham Mocatta being admitted to the Royal Exchange in 1710 as a broker. The company long served as brokers on the London bullion market. In 1997, the company was acquired by Scotiabank of Canada and formed a global bullion division under the name Scotia Mocatta.
